2023 Summer Academy Training

The Summer Academy Training Program is a 4-week program beginning July 10 and ending August 3.  Each program will feature our Curriculum Based Training Model focusing on foundation of movement leading to physical literacy.

The Academy is designed for players who are serious about their development.  Each day is devoted to different styles of training and each player can design their own curriculum within the Academy.  Mix and match training sessions to create your personal summer training program.

We offer clinics that focus on positional and game skills, skating technique, puck control.  We offer semi-private and small group training, and our Skill Factory sessions work to combine all of these skills to create a smooth and powerful player.  Girls only options are available, and we limit the number of players on the ice to maximize player development.

Our camps offer each player the opportunity to maximize his or her development by creating a positive, challenging, and fun learning environment designed to stretch the abilities of the athlete.

All clinics will be held at North Buffalo Rink on Tacoma Ave. in Buffalo, NY.

Sessions are designed to work in semi private groups of 5-6 based on age to maximize skill development.

SGT Clinics are designed for small groups.  Each session will be limited to 6 players per group.  Drop In Sessions ($35) will be available if there is room.

Body Contact Clinics

2007-2010
Dates/Times TBD
Limit 10 skaters per session

The Body Contact Clinic will explore the fundamentals of body contact, safely using body contact, and how to absorb body contact.

These clinics are acceptable for boys and girls of all ages as body contact and competitive contact is a part of the game at all levels.  Even before checking in 14U Hockey, players make contact with each other.  Players who are not prepared put themselves at risk for injury.

For the Bantam and Midget Boys, we will move into body checking concepts.

Advanced Puck Control

2005-2014
Tuesday 9:00-10:00am
Limit 15 skaters

This clinic will focus on aspects of puck handling, puck protection, passing and receiving.  Our focus is to give players more puck confidence which will allow them to focus more on what is going on around them.

Puck Handling: puck agility with a focus on quick smooth hands as well as the concept of under-handling.

Puck Placement: placing the puck in the right position to evade defenders and generate power from the stride and power in evasive maneuvers.

Puck Protection: using placement and edge agility to keep pucks away from defenders.  We spend time working on the concept of using "the hip pocket" to attack defenders with confidence.

Passing and Receiving: Fundamental passing techniques leading to passing and receiving passes at high rates of speed.
